3 yr girl from Tripur , operation and mesocaval shunt surgery

Arohi , 3 yr girl from Tripura underwent Splenectomy with shunt Surgery in 2019 for Extra hepatic portal vein obstruction by some other team.However few months later she again had episodes of upper GI bleed requiring scopy and banding of huge varices. Her previous shunt had blocked on imagining. After lots of discussion we went ahead and did re operation and mesocaval shunt surgery. Child was discharge on POD3. Shunt is patent and child is doing well.

Re surgery for Pediatric cases is a challenge.l for any competent surgeon . However this surgery can give new symptom free life to this small human who deserves quality of life playing and eating at this age.
